Research Assistant/Associate in Optical Wireless Communication and Signal Processing x 3

We are seeking three Research Assistants/Associates in Optical Wireless Communication and Signal Processing, to be based in West Cambridge, UK. Candidates should hold (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in a relevant specialist subject which includes optical wireless communication (OWC) and photonics, a significant track record in the field of OWC, optical fibre, photonics or radio communication, and proven experimental skills developing free-space optics, proof-of-concept prototypes.

Full details about these roles, including key responsibilities and duties, and the skills, qualifications and experience required. Closing date for applications: 28 April 2026.

Summer internship project

We are currently seeking applications for the summer internship project: Statistical Modelling of Virtual Reality (VR) Headset Orientation for Optical Wireless Communication Applications. This work will contribute to the LRDC’s research and be disseminated through our channels in the TITAN Telecoms Hub. The project will extend previous work on statistical modelling of VR headset orientation for optical wireless communication applications, performed as a 4th-year project. The aim of this internship is to advance the model toward realistic, movement-rich VR scenarios and to validate key findings experimentally in the laboratory.

The internship is eight weeks, flexible, over the summer and is available under the EPSRC Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP). Full details about this opportunity, including project objectives, the essential knowledge, skills and attributes sought, and how to apply. Deadline for applications: 30 April 2026.
